Company profile

Founded in 1996, QV is an independent asset and wealth management firm. They provide active investment management for Canadian pension funds, foundations, endowments, first nations and high-net-worth individuals.

Investment approach

QV Investors believes in investing in quality companies with attractive valuations. They purchase companies with above average returns on equity capital, but whose shares trade below market valuations. This approach has consistently yielded superior risk-adjusted equity returns over the long-term.

Mr. Darren Dansereau joined QV Investors in 2006. Mr. Dansereau is Chief Executive Officer and is a Portfolio Manager for QV’s large cap Canadian equity strategy.

Mr. Derek Nichol joined QV Investors in December 2018. Mr. Nichol is a Portfolio Manager for QV’s Canadian small cap and global small cap equity strategies and is a member of the QV Investment Committee.

Amit Shah, CFA

Portfolio Manager

Amit joined QV Investors in 2021 and has over a decade of investment experience. He is a Portfolio Manager for QV’s Canadian small- and mid-cap strategies and is a member of the QV Investment Committee. Prior to joining QV, Amit worked as an equity analyst at another Calgary-based asset management firm.

Effective July 3, 2026, Steven Kim will step down as a portfolio manager of the NEI Canadian Small Cap Equity RS Fund. Effective the same date, Amit Shah will join Derek Nichol as a portfolio manager of the Fund.
